What to expect when working together

Functional medicine focuses on understanding the factors influencing your health rather than simply managing symptoms. Through a systems-based approach, it looks beyond symptoms to restore whole-body health and build lasting resilience.

  • What systems in the body may be out of balance?

  • What underlying factors may be contributing to symptoms?

  • How can we support the body’s natural ability to heal and function well?

  • To make the most of our time together, you will receive detailed intake forms once your appointment is scheduled. These forms are emailed to you immediately after scheduling.

These forms allow me to review your:

    • health history
    • current symptoms and concerns
    • medications and supplements
    • lifestyle factors such as nutrition, sleep, and stress
    • previous testing or treatments

Whenever possible, this information is reviewed before we meet, allowing our visit to focus on understanding your story and identifying next steps.

  • Your consultation is focused on understanding your health from a comprehensive perspective.

During this visit we will discuss:

    • your complete health history
    • patterns in your symptoms
    • nutrition, lifestyle, and environmental influences
    • previous testing or treatments
    • your personal health goals

You will leave with clear initial action steps, which may include:

    • nutrition and lifestyle strategies
    • targeted supplements or botanicals
    • prescription medications when appropriate
    • recommendations for laboratory testing

  • Your consultation represents the start of the process.

Following your visit, additional time is spent reviewing your case and researching your unique presentation. This allows for development of a personalized treatment plan tailored specifically to you.

Functional medicine often uses targeted laboratory testing to better understand what may be influencing your health so we can make informed decisions rather than guessing.

  • Your first follow-up visit typically occurs 4–6 weeks after the consultation. Follow up time varies, based on treatment plans and current health.

    During follow-up visits we:

    • review laboratory results
    • evaluate your progress
    • refine your treatment plan
    • adjust therapies as needed

As larger health concerns improve, visits may transition to efficient 30-minute follow-ups for continued support and optimization.

Between visits, secure patient messaging is available for questions and guidance

  • Your care may include a combination of:

    • evidence-based prescription medications when appropriate
    • targeted nutraceuticals and botanicals
    • nutrition and lifestyle strategies
    • functional laboratory testing
    • personalized prevention and long-term health optimization

  • Functional and integrative care is a process that evolves over time. After the initial consultation, follow-up visits allow us to review progress, evaluate laboratory results, and adjust your treatment plan as needed. Care plans vary depending on individual needs. Some patients benefit from more frequent visits early on, while others require only occasional follow-up as their health improves.

    Follow-up visits are typically:

    • 30 minutes – $180
    • 45 minutes – $270

As your health improves and care becomes more streamlined, most patients transition to efficient 30-minute visits for continued support and optimization.

Which visit should I schedule?

Functional & Integrative Medicine Consultation

A functional medicine consultation is designed to explore your overall health picture and identify factors that may be contributing to symptoms or preventing optimal health.

This visit includes a comprehensive review of:

• your health history and symptom patterns
• nutrition, lifestyle, and environmental influences
• metabolic and hormonal health
• digestive and immune system function
• previous testing or treatments

Using a systems biology approach, we look for patterns and underlying contributors to symptoms and develop a targeted plan to support improved health.

When appropriate, this evaluation may also include testing for conditions such as Lyme disease or other infections as part of the broader assessment.

Lyme Disease & Tick-Borne Illness Consultation

A Lyme consultation is intended for patients who need a focused evaluation for tick-borne illness.

This visit is appropriate for individuals who:

• have a known history of Lyme disease or tick-borne infection
• recently experienced a tick bite or possible exposure
• were recently diagnosed with Lyme disease
• have symptoms strongly suggestive of a tick-borne illness

These visits focus on appropriate testing, evaluation of potential co-infections, and targeted treatment strategies.

Functional and integrative medicine principles are still applied throughout Lyme care, including supporting immune function, addressing inflammation, and optimizing the body’s ability to recover.
